License: Published for research use and redistributable. Each daily list has its own permanent identifier, which is what a citation has to name — 'the Tranco list' on its own is not reproducible.
How we filtered it: Walked in rank order, each site's homepage read once and tested for WordPress by census/wordpress.py, stopping at 100. The position in this cohort is 1..100; the Tranco rank that put each site in contention is recorded on the row, and nothing is ever reordered by anything of ours. Only medium confidence and above is admitted: one weak signal is a coincidence waiting to be pointed out, and a wrong row means somebody finding a site in our list that is not WordPress, and being right. Every row carries the signals that decided it, so a disagreement can be about that site rather than about the number. The depth the walk reached is recorded on the cohort, and for WordPress it is the interesting number: this is a system that runs a large share of the web and announces itself in the URL of nearly every asset it serves, so the hundred fills near the top of the list rather than thousands of rows down the way Drupal's does.
Instead of: BuiltWith and Wappalyzer datasets, which are licensed. Also WordPress.org's own showcase, which self-selects toward flattering examples and cannot be the base of a survey.
