The source, and how we filtered it

| License | Published for research use and redistributable. Each daily list has its own permanent identifier, which is what a citation has to name — 'the Tranco list' on its own is not reproducible. |
| How we filtered it | Every site in the list, in rank order, had its homepage read once (one request, our declared user agent) and tested by census/wordpress.py for WordPress. The same response is tested for all three technology cohorts, so a site is read once however many cohorts it might be in, and belongs to at most one: where two technologies match, the stronger evidence wins and the other is named on the row. The position in the cohort is 1..n in Tranco order and nothing is ever reordered by anything of ours. Only medium confidence and above is admitted: one weak signal is a coincidence waiting to be pointed out, and a wrong row is somebody in that community finding a site in our list that is not WordPress, and being right. Every row carries the signals that decided it, so a disagreement can be about that site rather than about the number. A site is one row per registered domain, taken from where its homepage finally landed, so a company's country domains that redirect to one site are one row, at the best Tranco rank among them. The URL is the root of the landing host. |

How much of each site we read
The cap is 32 URLs and it is a ceiling, not a promise. A portal whose every link points at a different host yields one page; a university yields the full sample. The median here is 32, the range 1–32, published so that "we sampled 32 URLs per site" cannot become a claim the data does not support.
7 sites in this cohort served a certificate we could not verify. They were read anyway and scored normally, because reporting no response for a site every browser loads would describe our TLS stack rather than the site, and each one carries the finding in its row.
